Here I am at Limelight Talent UK with fellow judges, Radio 1 DJ Tony Newby, Singer/Songwriter Glen Goldsmith and Presenter Miss Dolly and I feel truly privileged to see so much undiscovered talent!!
So, as a person who works extensively in PR & Branding and also in Music Management, I pose the question, “What is it that actually makes an artiste stand out from the crowd?”.
Well, contrary to popular belief, it’s not just about talent. When I’m judging a talent competition, I look for the whole package and I don’t necessarily mean the obvious such as vocal talent, musical skills and a super glamorous image. Of course, these all go a long way, however, to ear-mark an artiste for true stardom they have to possess that something extra and the majority of people just can’t put their finger on it.
So what is it that makes me give one talented artiste an average score of 6 or 7 and another artiste a score of 10? Many may argue that they are equally talented and, maybe they are, but for me to hand out a 10, I have to see something VERY special ….. and that something ‘very’ special for me usually comes in the form of an unwavering confidence that just totally sets them apart from all the rest.
A big part of my Music Management skills comes in the nurturing of an artiste in a way that they come out the other end a completely different person in the way they present themselves either on stage, on television or even in the recording studio.
I always aim to transform them from a talented amateur into a professional artiste ready for global stardom!!
